María Auxiliadora Ramírez (Fundasperven): "Autism, Panic, and Earthquakes"

In shortMaría Auxiliadora Ramírez, a woman with Asperger syndrome, founding member and former president of Fundasperven and content creator for Asperger en Perspectiva, joins the 4th Asperger World Meeting 2026 — virtual and free, November 15 — with "Autism, Panic, and Earthquakes," a first-person account of emotional self-regulation in the middle of an emergency.

The 4th Asperger World Meeting 2026 confirms the participation of María Auxiliadora Ramírez, a Venezuelan first-person voice, founding member and former president of Fundasperven, with a direct testimony about something rarely told from the inside: what goes through the mind of an autistic person when the ground shakes.

Who is María Auxiliadora Ramírez

Born and raised in Caracas, María Auxiliadora holds a degree in Advertising and has training in community leadership. She was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome in adulthood, a diagnosis she has described as the answer she had long been looking for to better understand herself. She is a founding member and former president of Fundasperven and an anti-bullying activist, and is a content creator for Asperger en Perspectiva, the program dedicated to showcasing adult life on the autism spectrum.

What is Fundasperven

Fundasperven — the Asperger Foundation of Venezuela — was founded on October 7, 2011, and is a global pioneer for being led and managed by people on the autism spectrum. It's present in 20 states of Venezuela and promotes educational and social inclusion, access to supported employment, and the prevention of school bullying.

Autism, panic, and earthquakes

Her session at the Meeting starts from a very concrete experience: the earthquake that struck Venezuela and tested, in real time, the emotional self-regulation tools María Auxiliadora has built throughout her life as an autistic woman. Without a rehearsed script or technical language, she shares what it feels like to face an emergency when sensory overload and emotional regulation are already, on their own, daily work — and which strategies helped her stay grounded in the middle of collective panic.

How to watch it live
