Legal recognition matters. But it must become listening, support and concrete opportunities. That is the question Margory Henríquez will bring to the 4th Asperger World Meeting 2026: “The law recognizes us, but who listens?”
Who is Margory Henríquez?
Margory is a Venezuelan woman with Asperger syndrome, diagnosed in adulthood. She is a founding member and president of Fundasperven, the Asperger Venezuela Foundation, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Pedagogy. She is also a graphic designer and social media specialist, bringing education, communication and social participation together.
Her advocacy focuses on preventing bullying and promoting educational inclusion for autistic people in Venezuela. From that experience, her talk opens a practical conversation for families, professionals and autistic people: how does the community get heard, and how can support respect its voice?
Transforma y Conecta: skills for autonomy
Margory is also the CEO of Transforma y Conecta, a social-skills and abilities program. According to the initiative’s description, it began in 2018 in support of Fundasperven as a platform for developing social skills in autistic teenagers and adults.
Its methodology is experiential, practical and structured. It works on effective communication, emotional regulation, self-esteem, personal organization, teamwork, decision-making, financial education and social participation. Its purpose goes beyond teaching concepts: it creates real opportunities for participants to discover, practice and demonstrate their abilities, moving toward greater autonomy and self-determination.
From recognition to listening
A community can be recognized on paper and still face barriers to taking part, studying, relating to others or being taken seriously. Listening means opening spaces, attending to lived experience and turning it into inclusive action.
That is why Margory’s talk belongs to the Rights, support networks and full citizenship block. Her path brings together advocacy, pedagogy and direct work on social skills. It also reminds us that citizenship is practiced every day: at school, at home, in the community and wherever decisions are made.
