Daniel Comín: “AutiStok and The Perfect Pattern: Technology and Art in the Service of Autism”

In shortDaniel Comín, creator of AutiStok and author of “The Perfect Pattern: Autism, Drawing to Communicate,” brings technology, drawing and first-person insight together.

Communication can take many paths. Daniel Comín Pérez will connect an app, a book and his experience in a talk about technology and art in the service of autism.

Who is Daniel Comín?

He is a young man from Tenerife with autism, developer of AutiStok and author of “The Perfect Pattern: Autism, Drawing to Communicate.” During childhood, drawing was one of his main forms of expression, and he did not communicate verbally until age eleven.

Why this combination matters

His path helps explain why creativity, communication and practical support appear together in his work. Drawing is not an ornament here: it is a means of expression and a way to share experience.

From that experience he created AutiStok, an app designed to help neurodivergent people manage emotions, organize routines and face anxiety-provoking situations. It responds to everyday needs that many people and families recognize: anticipating, ordering, identifying what is happening and finding ways through difficult moments.

A perspective grounded in community

In “The Perfect Pattern: Autism, Drawing to Communicate,” Daniel brings together drawings, texts, personal experiences and reports. The book aims to show autism from within and affirm that there are different valid ways to communicate. The app and the book form a path linking technology, art and advocacy without presenting one correct way to express oneself.

His contribution may be especially meaningful for autistic people, families, teachers and professionals exploring visual supports, digital tools or creative languages. The audience can hear a first-person voice and expect a conversation about communication and cognitive diversity.

This story also broadens the conversation about communicative autonomy. When someone finds a medium that lets them express themselves, organize daily life or share experience, that medium can be understood as part of participation rather than as an exception to hide.
