Dr. Jesús Rojas: “Beyond Diagnosis: Supporting, Understanding and Empowering”

In shortDr. Jesús Rojas, a Venezuelan physician based in Alberta, joins the Meeting with a talk about support, understanding and potential beyond diagnosis.

A diagnosis can guide support, but it does not sum up a person’s life. That is the starting point for Dr. Jesús Rojas and his talk, “Beyond Diagnosis: Supporting, Understanding and Empowering.”

Who is Jesús Rojas?

He is a Venezuelan physician, pediatrician and child-nutrition specialist. He is a member of the Venezuelan Society of Pediatrics, founding president of its Vargas branch, former president of the Venezuelan Medical Society of Nutrition and a university professor.

He is also an allied physician and Ambassador of the Asperger Venezuela Foundation, an adherent member of the International Organization for Telemedicine and Telehealth, and has devoted more than ten years to mental-health and autism-spectrum topics.

Why this perspective matters

For families, professionals and autistic people, support means seeing the whole person: needs, context, strengths and ways of participating. Pediatrics and child nutrition offer a view of important stages in development and everyday wellbeing; Jesús’s work in mental health and autism-spectrum topics adds another dimension to that perspective.

Support from childhood matters because families need clear information, guidance and tools they can bring into daily life. Questions about development, nutrition, communication and mental health are connected, and families benefit when they can be considered together rather than as isolated pieces.

A perspective grounded in community

The combination of pediatrics, nutrition, mental health and community participation can raise questions rooted in real contexts. For families and professionals, this perspective can connect early care with the supports needed at different stages.

His membership in the International Organization for Telemedicine and Telehealth also places the conversation in a context where access to guidance can depend on distance and available resources. The audience can expect an approach grounded in care, understanding and each person’s potential.

For people supporting children and teenagers, this perspective also recognizes that every family needs room to ask questions and find guidance suited to its reality. The Meeting offers a space to hear that conversation between medical knowledge, mental health and community.
